Family Friday

So when we went to Oak-luh-home-ah for Christmas, my mom got to bring home a CD that my Grampa J had with a whole lotta old family pictures on it. They made mom smile a lot and so I told her, I said, “Mom, what would you think about maybe putting some of ’em on my bloggie?” Since we’re getting ready to start a whole new year, I thought it might be kinda nice to gets ready for the future by looking back at the past. Besides, it’s always fun to look at all the old kerazy clothes and hairstyles the humans have gone through. Heehee!

This is the day mom's daddy (Grampa J) got back from a faraway place called Viet Nam. Everybuddy sure was happy!

  2. That was tons of fun to see those pictures. Our Mom is older than dirt, so she really enjoyed the pictures. Looks like the whole family has a wonderful sense of humor. Riding around in a wheelbarrow, teaching mom how to shave, it was all really good.

  3. That was lots of fun to see those pictures. We have some pretty funny ones, but have not been able to get the muzzer to relent and post some. Plus, everybuddy would know about how old she is, and she is getting sensitive (silly) about that!

thanks to your Mom for sharing

  5. Oh dear those outfits and hairs are pretty strange! The hairspray and things needed for them must have been pretty scary. I’m not a fan of hair stuffs

  6. We loved the pictures, way cool! Happy New Year Mayzie!!!

  7. Miss Mayzie, where in Oklahoma do you go? Do you drive through KC to get there? If so, we totally want to meet you next time you go! šŸ™‚

  8. I love these pictures!!!! They are so classic. I think my favorite has to be the one with Auntie P (and her hair). šŸ™‚

  9. I am with Two Kitties One Pittie. My favorite was the big hair too. It was fun to see the old pictures and we think you should talk your mom into putting a few more on. Maybe all of our humans should do a “When I was a child” post.

    Happy New Year Mayzie

  10. Our favorite was the one where your mommy is looking up at her mommy. There is such a special bond between mother and child. I don’t know what I would do without my mommy! And she doesn’t know what she would do without hers! I think that picture says it all!

  12. Mayzie…thank you to you and Mom for sharing these most treasured pictures. O M C/O M D they are simply wonderful.
Mom got a kick out of the hair and clothes…and she can lol because that was her era too and she wore the topstitched polyester and behive hair. I bet there are some bell bottom pants on someone on some of the pictures too.
    Hugs from your BFFF,
    Madi and her 70’s mom

Oh, these are so sweet. What a beautiful and happy family! Thank goodness your mom found these pictures and thanks for sharing them with us. I especially like that picture of when he came home from Vietnam. Everyone sure does look happy. My grandpa is a veteran, too, so we sure do understand that kind of joy.

    Your pal, Pip

  14. That picture of you and your mom is gorgeous!

  15. We love the pictures! Isn’t it fun looking at old pictures? We kinda wish our human would print more of the pics she takes, and put them in real albums, so that someday people will look through them like we look through old pics now!

  16. We loved looking at the pictures. It looks like there is a lot of good feelings in your family! The Mrs. is constantly taking pictures; much to the dismay of the boy. She keeps telling him that some day he will appreciate it.

    XOXOXO

  17. OH THESE ARE GRRRRREAT! What fun! She found in the attic last night. Had a good laugh. Our favorite is the shaving picture. Wait..maybe it’s the big HAIR picture…then we also like the busy box….uh….there’s lots.

  24. More, please! These were so fun to look at! Loved Boone roaching, and the picture of you and your mom with the wild print dress. In fact, the print looks current again. I would wear it. Also loved Grandpa J rockin’ the 70’s. None of us made it through the 70’s without looking a little misguided.

  25. Teddy Bear & Sierra

We love all the vintage photos of your Mom and her family.:) The one of your Mom looking up at her Mom is priceless.:)

Oh, Miss Mayzie, thanks for sharing your trip down memory lane! It’s so good you got all the old photos on a CD as added insurance they will survive – especially those Kodak thingies that seem to really fade with time.

Mama’s favorite is of your grandpa J making it home alive from Viet Nam, because mama’s husband didn’t make it back. She’s happy to see your family was so blessed, and grew so much because of that blessing, and they were able to rescue you.

  28. I really enjoy looking at older photos. Remembering the way things used to look. Look at that old Coke can and stuff. You can tell that you have some wonderful memories with your family. šŸ™‚

  29. Those pictures are fantastic! Your mom is lucky to have those! Your Grandpa J was one handsome fellow as a young pup, too!
