Chip In Update and Thanks

Just wanted to give an update on the Chip In account.

As of this morning, Blogville has made a total of $3,490 in donations to help during this terrible tragedy. Those funds have been transferred to a paypal account for Sandra to be able to use right away for whatever she needs. As donations continue to come in, they will be transferred ASAP to her. This money will be used for everything from short term needs such as clothing to long-term needs such as her insurance deductible, lost wages and anything else that insurance may not cover. In other words, it is needed and sincerely appreciated.

In addition, many of you have asked where you could personally send gifts, gift cards or donations. We’re working to get you that information as soon as possible and will let you know as soon as we know something.

On a personal level, I’m struggling to put into words how utterly humbled, once again, I am by Blogville. When we originally talked about the Chip In, we set the goal at $1000, then $1500 and then $2000. Each time, the goal was met and then shattered in a matter of hours. Finally, we just decided to forget about the goal and let people donate as long as they wanted. We have received donations ranging from $2 to $200 – each person giving whatever they possibly can. I spent much of yesterday in tears out of grief for Sandra’s unfathomable loss and because of how moved I was by the outpouring of utter and complete love and support from this community.

Please know how very much your efforts mean – whether it’s through a donation, a prayer, or a kind word. You are making a difference.

  5. Dear Mayzie and Amber,

I found out about this terrible tragedy purely by accident. It was one of those “let me check on…” and I stumbled across your Facebook entry while at work yesterday. I couldn’t hold back the tears and I immediately posted to my blog (which I’ve been neglecting, hence the disconnect from Blogville for some time now!) to help spread the word. I love our Blogville community. Period.

Thank you for getting this going for Sandra and her family. I’m so impressed by the outpouring of love and support – I haven’t even had a chance to make my donation yet and the goal was surpassed a few times! I’ll get on that right now.

Love and hugs to all of you,

    Cindy (Pibble) and the pack

  6. My eyes are filled with tears right now….so glad the goal has been met and surpassed! Will be sending more soon….

  11. Thank you for arranging everything. So many of us have been touched by Sandra helping these dogs. I know for me donating, was just one little thing I could do to say thanks for everything she has done for the dogs.

Like you I am truly amazed at the support of blogville. It is nice to know that there are people you may only know through a blog, but they are willing to come together and help whenever it is necessary.

This is really great for all the help and support Blogville has done for Sandra and her family. I also would like to receive Sandra’s mail address for sending gift cards and gift boxes of toys and treats for her fur babies.

I was so overwhelmed with sadness that I could not even think straight yesterday. And thank you also for taking the lead in coordinating the help efforts. The outpouring of love and support from our blog family is so encouraging for a family that has suffered so much at Christmas time.

    Hey Mayzie!
Wow, at first I was going to say I’m stunned, but then again, I’m really not that terribly surprised. Blogville is the most amazing, generous, loving community on Earth. Really. Literally. No other charity group or organization would come close to putting that kind of support in someone’s hands that quickly and that substantially. Blogville is beyond words. I am so happy for the response for Sandra and her pack. I am awaiting the info on where I can send a care-package. Thank you for doing this and keeping us updated.

  32. I confess, I’ve been checking the totals every few hours, and I keep smiling – in the face of a terrible tragedy that has left me speechless, I’m equally speechless (but in a good way) for how quickly the fund was set up, and how quickly the donations were coming in. I’m very proud to be a member of Blogville!

I am not a Blogville member, but Amber has told me she will help me become one. I am excited about being a part of a group that cares so deeply about its members. Even though most of you haven’t met in person, you all share a love of animals, huge & generous hearts, and an unbelievable support system. Looking forward to being a citizen of Blogville one of these days and kudos to all of you for helping Sandra in this time of terrible loss!
