Rescue Me Week – Grand Finale!

Okay, so before we gets started, I wanna lets you know why last week meant so much to me and my momma.

See, this has been kind of a hard year around our house and my momma has been pretty sad. And it seems like the bad things she reads about on the interwebz about animal and mini two-leggers being hurt by other humans hit her harder than usual. And sometimes she says she kinda loses faith in peoples.

So that’s why I told her that we HAD to have Rescue Me Week. Cuz it would show her just how many Most Wonderful humans (and dogs and kittehs) there are out there. And boy, was I ever right!

All in all, we had 180 POSTIES abouts Rescue Me Week with 233 Adorable Adoptables that got talked about! And it wasn’t just doggies and kittehs that got talked about. We had rabbits, pigs, a horse, a goat and birds – including a rooster! How nifty is THAT?

Everybuddy keeps telling us thank you for doing this but it kinda makes us feel weird. Cuz we really didn’t do anything all that special. It was all our furends who wrote up a postie or took the time to read one and sends good vibes to that pet who was looking for their Most Perfect Home That Ever Was. If it hadn’t been for every single one of you, Rescue Me Week wouldn’t have been what it was.

And then there’s our furends like Corbin and Love and a Six Foot Leash and Two Pitties in the City and Dog Foster Mom and Pauley James who open their homes and their hearts to foster pets. Or the peoples like my Angel Donna Fostermommy who go out and rescue doggies like me who might not have lived if it weren’t for her.

So, really, what me and my mom did is so teeny tiny. But on the other paw, I guess if we can all do something – no matter how small – maybe one day every pet will have a warm, safe home filled up with luvs.

Okay, so here’s what everybuddy’s been waiting for! Mom took ALLLL those names, printed them out, and then cut them up (with my snoopervision, of course).

Good job, mom!

Sisfur Abby helped, too!

Hmmmm...I do believe your cuts could be a little straighter, darling.

Brudder Ranger oversaw everything to makes sure everything went according t0 the rules.

No worries, folks. I solemnly swear this drawing is being conducted according to the rules set forth by...me.

Then we put them ALL in a bowl.

Are you suuuuure we can't gives green papers to everybuddy?

And then we had dad draw out five (cuz he doesn’t really know any of my bloggie furends so he’s impartial).

Oh, I'm so nervous!

And those 5 were…

Dog Gone Right who wrote abouts Mo

Tucker who wrote abouts Mac

Shady who wrote Smokey

Indomitable Angela who wrote abouts Harley

What Remains Now who wrote abouts VanDyke (who got adopted!!)

Big HUGE congratulations to everybuddy who won! I’ll sends you an email  to find out where you want your green papers to go.

And big HUGE congratulations to everybuddy who pawticipated. The very hardest part is that we couldn’t gives everybuddy green papers. We just SO hate to disappoint anybuddy. But I hope you know you’re ALL winners to me!

From the bottom of my brindle heart, thank you for caring so very much and for helping us honor my Most Special and Beloved Grampa J!

Always and furever in our hearts.

    CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS

Really WE were ALL winners in this Wonderful PAWject. You did soooooo much to remind US that there are all types of four leggers and feather folks that need HELP and HOMES… Pawhaps we can all ask Santa Paws fur a lot LESS fur US and some MORE fur those who need it. And YOU Miss Mayzie girrrrrl will be our inspiration fur doing THAT.
Your Grandpa J must be sooooooo proud of YOU and of your MOM. He is prolly lookin down and just BEAMING like the Bright Summer SUN!!!
THANK YOU fur DOING THIS Most GENEROUS and LOVING THINGY.

  16. Oh my goodness!! I was so SURPRISED when I saw that Allies for Greyhounds of West Michigan won with the last drawing slip! Especially sweet since it was Vandyke’s name. He waited longer than most to find his forever home…but his fortune seems to have changed. He’s a lucky boy now!

We’re humbled to have won. Humbled by Mayzie and her mom…it just doesn’t get any sweeter than them. Humbled by the “heart” of everyone who posted all those profiles of deserving animals that want nothing more than a “home.” And finally, humbled by Grandpa J’s spirit and life that continues to touch those that he never met because of the greatness of his love and kindness. Now that’s a legacy. Thank you.

  17. Congratulations, to you and yours for engineering such a huge and successful project to help other animals in need. And congratulations to the winners. Who, in this case included more than just the five names drawn.

When the sun shines bright and warm in our little piece of Arizona desert, I’m thinking it’s your Grampa J’s smile, happy and proud that he’s able to help those less fortunate.

    Happy, Waggin’ Tails, FUREVER!

Hurray for the winners and all the animals that were featured last week! It was a pretty remarkable event!!! I am sorry you have had a hard year … we understand that feeling when it all gets too much sometimes. I am glad this lifted your mom’s spirits. There’s lots of good in the world, it’s just hard to see sometimes through the shadows – but what’s behind the shadows, the sun! Thanks for sponsoring this beautiful event! I am so happy for all the winners.

    Your pal, Pip

  25. Mayzie, Sisfur Abby and Brudder Ranger – you all did a great job helping your mom with picking the winners! I loved the pictures of you helping. It was nice of your dad to help out too! Even though not every rescue could win cash, they each got something more important – all these bloggers helped spread awareness of how big the problem really is. That helps everyone! Thank you!

  26. Congrats to the winners!

“Ditto” to what Lori @ What Remains Now said! I was so busy at work trying to catch up and when I checked email on my (late) lunch break I was just stunned to see my email from Mayzie. I’m so excited for the hounds at Greyhound Friends of North Carolina. Tough economic times are everywhere…but sometimes rescue organizations, like other charities, feel the pinch more than most. I am humbled to have been a part of this wonderful Rescue Me Week. I echo what Mayzie said about how if we all do something–even something seemingly small–the pets will have the loves! I know a lot of really greyt hounds that has some loves to share!!! Thanks Mayzie, MayzieMom…and I just know Grampa J is up there grinning.

  43. I think everyone is a winner! You did a great thing and really shared the love for dogs waiting for their homes! I really admire you for doing such a wonderful job of helping animals find their homes.
