Saturday Smiley: Baby Otter Swim Lessons

Whew! I’m sure glad I wasn’t born an otter. I do not think I would like swimming lessons. But I do have to say…they might prolly be some of the cutest animals in the whole wide world.

If you can’t see the movie, click here.

PeeS. I’m off to the Big Banquet for the Race of the Century! It’s gonna be lots of fun. I hope to see you there!!

  1. Oo, that’s really cute! I didn’t know the babies had to be taught how to swim, hehe. My hoomans saw a whole furmaily of wild otters while they were at this natural conversation forest. They said they were the darnest cutest critters hehehe.

  4. So cute! I love swimming too but I can’t remember having any lessons. Mom-otter is a real taskmaster there!

  5. That Muzzer Otter reminds me of someone I know! When it is bath time, she grabs any available appendage to keep me in the shower with her!

  6. Yikes – that momma otter wasn’t messing around! Had to laugh at how she sort of throws the baby in, then has to pull him back into the pool by his little leggie when he tries to get out! Good thing they are buoyant… As you might remember, I need to wear a life vest to have ANY chance of staying afloat, so this is very impressive indeed!

Otters make great moms, don’t they? The Momster doesn’t know how to swim and wishes she had an otter mom to have helped her when she was young. Great video.

I had to wait and wait for my internet to be fast enough to watch the video, and it was worth it. That is too adorable for words. The pups really don’t seem too enthused about going in the water at first but mom just drags them!

Funny, when I had my first lab puppy, I thought that I have to teach her to swim. No way! She was off and paddling in the blink of an eye! That’s why I’m so surprised that otter pups have to learn.

  28. Awwww, they are a-dorable!!! But – we’re glad we weren’t taught to swim like that 🙂

    The Road Dogs

  29. Hi Mayzie! What a video! Otters are such cuties – but boy that baby otter did NOT want to be in there at first! But oh it is so cute and funny to watch them in their swimming lesson!
