Update from Ranger

Greetings, dear readers. I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your concern about the unfortunate incident which I had to endure earlier this week. I understand that some of you have continued to ask after me and I wanted to assure you that my, ahem, nether regions are healing quite well.

Unfortunately, I have a follow-up visit scheduled for next Wednesday at the veterinarian’s office, during which time she will assess my progress and most likely finish up the…cough…job that she started on Monday. While I am certainly not looking forward to it, my desire to keep this from happening again outweighs my desire to stay curled up at home in a state of denial.

Of course, being the helpful and concerned older brother that I am, I pointed out to mother and dad that my dear little sister Mayzie is displaying some of the symptoms that our veterinarian said to be on the lookout for. Namely, biting at and licking one’s hind quarters. Therefore, Mayzie will be making her own visit to the vet tomorrow morning to have her glands attended to as well. I assure you that this was done out of brotherly concern and love, and not out of revenge for those crude drawings of my derriere.

Once again, I would like to “express” my gratitude to you all for your concern. (Yes, pun IS intended. Mayzie is not the only funny one in this house, you know. I can be funny, too.)

  1. I hope you and Mayzie can both put this whole episode behind you soon. (Teehee, get it? Behind. Get it?)

  2. First, we will keep our paws crossed and good vibes going out for Miss Paige to find a good home real soon. We sure hope she at least has a foster home by now.

Second, we are most glad to hear from Brudder Ranger that he is much better. As with many things, regular preventative maintenance in/of the effected mechanism is much less painful in the long run than having a major breakdown. Good luck to both of you.

  11. Dearest Ranger…..first of all your blog post is very regal and proper!! Well done!!
Your sincere ‘expression’ of concern for Mayzie’s ASSets is heartwarming. We hope that Mayzie is appreciative of your brotherly love and your effort to share all of your experiences with her.
May you both have ‘expressionalless” (is that a word) ASSets very soon.
Hugs Madison (that is the name I use when I’m in the presence of royalty)!!!

  12. Hey Ranger and Mayzie…
So long as you don’t become the butt of everyone’s jokes. Geesh I’m sorry to hear about your lurking problems. Don’t worry…you are not alone…most of us dogs have these things happen.

I pawsonally thought those CRUDE drawings were … Well, UNCALLED fur. I would think that YOU could now Post some LOVELY Drawings of your OWN… showing… HER displaying the dreaded SYMPTOMS… WINK WINK… I’m sure you get my Snow Drift.

  15. Pip

Brudder Ranger, you sure are so thoughtful – helping out your sister like that! I have endured this procedure a few times and it is no picnic. Stay strong, my friend.

    Your pal, Pip

P.S.: You should come join us down in Florida. Mayzie is loving the hot tub!

Brudder Ranger, good to hear that you are coming out from “behind” that difficult ordeal. But we want to advise you to be careful what you suggest Mayzie might need – payback can be not so much fun – BOL.

Ranger, you are very funny. Just looking at you makes me laugh.
I am kidding, of course. I think you are adorable. Especially in that last photo, it is almost as if you are smiling.

I am glad you are feeling better and I hope your and Mayzie’s appointments go well. That is hard on your parents if both of you are ill. A lot of nasty clean up! Take it easy, eh?

  19. Ranger is such a handsome boy!

  20. Hmmm I think there was a little revenge intended there…

i’m so glad that your hiney is feelin’ better today! it’s too bad that you have to go back to the vet for another check, but hopefully that will be the last one for a super long time!
i know my lovely miss mayzie will be way brave like when she goes in to have her hiney checked. i’m 100% sure there won’t be anythingie wrong, though, cuz she’s the perfectest lady that evarrr was!!

I hope everything comes out alright.
    Really.

  24. Sorry Ranger and Mayzie šŸ˜¦ Gus hates having his anal glands expressed too. If it makes you feel any better, during one trip to have his glands expressed, the “stuff” squirted all over and hit the vet in the face! We were mortified, but figured it was just Gus’s payback. Maybe you could work on your aim before next week šŸ˜‰

  25. So sorry you have to go back to the vet, but feel better soon!!

  26. Tee hee! Ranger, I’m sure it was all done with love! Trust me when I say that it’s better to have them expressed than to have one rupture. That is serious business!

I am so glad to see you posting today, too! I always enjoy your wit and intelligence!

  27. Aw…yes, you are one terrific brudder!! BOL Hopefully everything will be ok with the 2 of you.

    Ranger!
I am happy to know you are much better now!
I hope Mayzie will be fine too!
    Take care

  31. Our little Jeter had the same issues– so much so that my vet taught me how to express his anals- shudder! I can now add this skill to my resume…

  32. Oh thank goodness you are feeling better! What an ordeal. Thank you for sharing this with us despite it’s personal content. (Well… kind of. Now mom is studying any movement I make toward my butt. Let’s hope that doesn’t last long!)

  33. We’re so glad to hear you are feeling better. It’s so hard for us to help our dogs when they do put on such a brave face and don’t let us know when they hurt.

  34. Mr. Brudder Ranger, we’re so glad to hear your bottom is feeling better! I’m sure your and Miss Mayzie’s visits with the doctor will go great. You are both brave to do what you need to stay healthy even if it is a lot to endure!

    Luvs and Best Healing Wishes,

    Jackie & Dillon

  35. Ranger, you are very cute! We totally understand your problem all too well and know how bad it really can be. Holly is still having problems after two trips to the vet and antibotics, special food, etc., so now it’s going to be off to the vet again next week. We do hope you get completely well and don’t have to go through this again. Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

  36. Dude, rough week. Very thoughtful for you to look out for Mayzie like that!
