Hi everybuddy! Gosh, we missed you all! I hope you had the most happiest Thanksgiving that ever was! We had lotsa fun and did lotsa stuff, which I’ll tell you all abouts later this week.
But first, I want to tell you about something else that’s super duper exciting!
A coupla months ago, my mom and me heard abouts this photo contest being hosted by this pretty pit bull girl named Ruby.
Ruby had just come out with a book called “Ruby’s Tale: A True Rags to Riches Story” and wanted to give away a few paw-toe-graphed copies. So all you had to do was send in a picture of yourself reading a book and then she would pick out her favoritest ones. Well, we decided to enter and here’s the picture we sent in:
And guess what!? I was one of the ones who WON! Oh! I was just almost beside myself with the happiness!
So as soon as the book got here, mom and me sat down right away and started reading all abouts Ruby and her dad, Mr. Pat Bettendorf. And we were just amazed by their story.
See, Ruby was found in an abandoned house when she was just a puppy. Somebuddy had decided that they didn’t want her anymore and they just threw her away like she was trash or something. And if she hadn’t been rescued, she prolly would’ve died. But most luckily, she WAS rescued and when she was abouts six months old, she went to live with Mr. Pat and his nice wife-lady as a temporary fosterdog.
Well, Ruby had other ideas and right away set about convincing Mr. Pat and his wife-lady to adopt her — and they did just that! And it was prolly one of the best things that ever happened to all of them. Cuz with Mr. Pat’s help, Ruby has gone on to do all sorts of exciting and fantastical things. Like traveling all over the country and starring in stage plays and being a finalist in the Milk Bone Spokesdog Contest. And most impawtantly, becoming a therapy and service dog.
Ruby’s also helped change a lotta peoples minds about pit bull doggies. And she was even able to stare down that bad “C” word when it came calling for her — cuz she’s super brave and all.
But the book isn’t just about all the Most Wonderful stuff Ruby has done. It’s a story abouts Mr. Pat, too. Just like Ruby, he had some bad things happen to him when he was little but also just like Ruby, he didn’t let that keep him down. Nope. In fact, just the opposite happened! Both Ruby and Mr. Pat share the same strong and loving spirit and together they’ve made a difference in the lives of doggies and peoples all over the country.
Well…my mom and me luved this story so much that we decided to ask Mr. Pat and Ruby if we could buy another book to give away on our bloggie and they said yes! So now’s YOUR chance to win your very own paw-toe-graphed 1st edition copy of “Ruby’s Tale”!
We’re gonna give you a few different chances to enter. For each thing you do, you’ll get one entry. You don’t have to put them in separate comments but you DO have to tell us which of the things you did. (If you’ve already done some of these things, that’s okay. Just tell us that you’ve already done them and it’ll still count.)
1. Leave a comment on this post saying “Ruby Rocks!”
2. Go “like Ruby’s facebook page.
The deadline for the contest is this Saturday at midnight and then we’ll have a random drawing. The big winner will be announced on Monday, December 6th.
Good luck, everybuddy! And even if you don’t win, I hope you’ll think about giving “Ruby’s Tale” to another pet luver for the holidays. Both Ruby and Mr. Pat are Most Inspirational. And their story is an impawtant reminder that you don’t have to be famous or have lots of green papers to make a big difference in the world. All you really need is somebuddy who luvs you and believes in you!
