My neighbor Hope

Remember how I told you abouts our neighbor, Hope? The one that yelled at Cuzin Bridger for being too big?

Well, I thoughts you might like to see a better picture of her.

And you know what? I just luvs her. Like a whole lot.

And so my mom and dad talked to her mom and dad abouts letting her come over sometimes for a play date. So she came over the other day and we had the BEST time chasing each other all around and wrestling and stuffs.

Of course, mom forgots to get out the flashy beast while we were playing but she did takes some pictures of us after we decided to take a little breakie.

Yep, I just thinks she’s the sweetest.

And she likes me a whole lot, too.

And she really, REALLY wants to get to know Brudder Ranger betters.

But Brudder Ranger…

Well, let’s just say that Hope suffers from unrequited luvs.

Psst...Hope...I'm pretty sure he's not smiling at you.

PeeS. Priscilla the Computer is back home and feeling much betters! So hopefully we can get caught up on what everybuddy’s been doing. Oh, and stay tuned for a big announcement on Monday from me and my BFF, her Royal Holy Highness, the Most Righteous Preacher Puddles!

  1. Wow is sure looks like you and Hope had a fun play date Mayzie, heres hoping you have lots more fun together

  2. Mayzie how very very nice you have a girlfriend right next door to you. You and Hope had a fine time and I can see from the pictures that you and Hope are BFF.
Maybe you too can go to the mall soon for a mani-ped and lunch.

Ranger IS MOST CERTAINLY not smiling. What in the world do you think he is jealous? Did he ignore you when you came in from playing?

    Madi and Mom

  3. Mayzie,

Having a furiend who lives next door is so much fun! Too bad brudder Ranger has issues with Hope. 😦

    Woofs and Licks,
    Maggie Mae

PeeS What’s this about an announcement from you and Preacher Puddles and why was I not informed of it prior to this? 🙂 Can’t wait to find out what it is!!

  4. Hope is a cutie! I foresee many joyful playdates in your future!

  5. That is so great that Hope has become such a good friend. She really is beautiful Maizey That is too bad that Ranger doesn’t seem to think she is so nice. But maybe the brudder will change his mind.
    Have a great day.

  6. Oh dis is wonderfuls Mayzie, I so happy you and Hope are furiends now….HOWEVERS, you needs to set it straight with hers dat I, Puddles remain da BFF or I will haves to do a little preachin’. Dis non-denominational thing is really gonna works to my advantage…hehehe! Okays, I be nice nows. I do thinks it good to have a furiend as a neighbor, sure wish I did. Hope is ver purty.
Poor Ranger, he gonna haves a neighbor stalking him now…hehehe!

  7. Wow, what big eyes your neighbour Hope has! No wonder Brudder Ranger is keeping his distance, unrequited love or not. A man has to be safe, know what I am saying….

As for Mayzie and Hope having a great playdate, well thats what its all about – funning and running.

  8. I’m so happy for you and for Hope. A friend to play with and then she goes home. Pawfect! It looks like she loves you, too. Ranger looks less pleased, but if he doesn’t want to pawticipate he could use the time on his own to persue some of his more intellectual interest.

I am most excited about the prospect of this announcement. Monday seems so far away now. But…since Puddles is involved I’m just a teeny bit worried, too. But also intrigued. Puddles in never boring.

Um…could you tell Puddles that I’m also your BFF, too? I guess you’re in much demand but I think you have enough love for 100 BFF’s. I don’t mind sharing. I hope Puddles feels the same. Um…Preacher Puddles, I’m sorry.

    lotsa licks, Lola

  9. Hope is very pretty! We’d be all happy to get to know her! Not like Brudder Ranger there…

We haves a neighbor, Jake… he digs under the fence and visits us without his mom! Kind of nice but real annoying when he’s outside in OUR yard and we are inside!

    Sam and Pippen

PeeS. Yes, we think Puddles put something in the beer…

  10. Shady

It’s always awkward when your BFF has a crush on your brudder. Boys are impossible, always acting so tough and always the meanest to the girls they like the most. Ranger will come around. In the meantime , I am glad you have a girl to hang with.

  11. Looks like you all had a most marvelous time!

    Mr. Nubbin’

  12. Hope sure is a pretty girl! How cool that she lives right next door to you so you can play together all the time! Maybe Ranger will come around.

Any plot that involves Preacher Puddles has to be a good one! I can’t wait to see what you two have cooked up!

  13. Hope is just beautiful – and how fun for you two to be able to play together. We hope this was just the first of many playdates.

Woos – Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  14. Sounds like you are having lotsafun! Why is brother Ranger hiding?…he sure looked like he was having fun with the tug-o-dogwar on Wednesday. Perhaps you can bring out the tug for your new friend too.
    Sending lotsaluv

  15. Wow that is so cool that Hope came over for a play date! It sounds like you had a lot of fun together – and we can tell you two are great friends! But we think that the expression on Brudder Rangers face in that last picture really shows perfectly what his feelings are – maybe some day they can at least be friends!

  16. A playdate, how fun!

PS. I’m BOL at the look on Brudder Ranger’s face! 🙂

  17. littlemissjackie

Mayzie, that is so neat that you have a fun neighbor to play with who loves you! We don’t have any full time neighbor dogs next door. Our elderly neighbor lady has a son who brings his dog there sometimes. She is a kind of dog called a “woomareener” and her name is Mercedes, and she is pretty big. But I’m like Brudder Ranger, I just bark and bark at her. I don’t think she wants to play with me, she just mostly wants to sit by her new mom while her mom does yard works. She sure loves her new mom! Mercedes’ dad thought it would be good for her to have a playdate with Dillon, but Mom isn’t sure about doing that just yet since Dillon doesn’t always appreciate something called “exooberance” when other dogs have it, unless he is feeling really exooberant himself right then!

  18. miss mayzie!
how cool is it that you have your friend miss hope right next door, and you can have play dates now whenevarrr ya’ll want!! i don’t understand why mr. ranger would be making that icky face at miss hope? is he having a cranky day maybe?
    the booker man

pee s — i’m super happy to hear that compy priscilla is all betters!

  19. Hope is such a cutie. Love her eyes. For some reason we thought Hope was a doxie when we looked at the pictures from your previous post.
    Love Ruby & Penny

  20. Hope is very cute. Love the colorful collar to. 🙂

  21. Kendra, Daisy and Bella

She looks like a great playmate for you. Bet she can really zoom. We love to visit our friend Marley. We always come home exhausted.

Maybe Brudder Ranger will learn to like her, too.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella

  22. I khan tell woo had lots of fun!

    She’s a beaWOOtiful furiend!

I khan’t wait to see more of your adventures!

  23. Isn’t it most fun to make new furends??? Phoenix is like Brudder Ranger sometimes… not too sure of new folks – especially BIG new folks like Hope!

So many surprises in the werks! Can’t wait to hear what you and PP have in store for us!

  24. How neat that you and Hope have become best buddies, Mayzie! We hope you have many more playdates together!

    Love ya lots
    Maggie and Mitch

  25. At furst I thoughts that Hope was a doxin……her heads and face looked like one….

Butt, then I gots to the 6th piktur and WOWSER….her is NOT a doxin at all!! Hers is really big…..butt very, very pretty.

  26. How pawesome that you got to play with Hope!:)

    Teddy Bear

  27. From that first picture I thought that Hope was tiny, but now I see she is quite huge. That was so nice of your mom to arrange that play date.

  28. Hope has a lovely face!
But sure Ranger is not very happy having her at home!
    Kisses and hugs

  29. Wow! Ranger certainly has no problem hiding his true feelings! That picture looks quite similar to how Brianna’s Hunter looks when Mickey and Lyla are getting in his space.

    Enjoy your neighbor!

  30. What a pretty girl that Hope is! I hope you have more play dates in the future….they are most fun!

    Wags and Licks,
    Mollie Jo & Bobo

  31. how cool that you got to have a playdate!

  32. We wonder if Hope has some crazy Weimaraner in her. Our cuzin, Molly, is Weimaraner and she’s totally crazy. She NEVER slows down and she’s got eyes just like your friend! The CCC

  33. Hi Miss Mayzie – awww, Hope is real cute, we’re glad you’ve become good friends. Poor Hope though, wearning her heart on her sleve and having her feelings cruely rejected by brother Ranger. Sigh, we sort of know how she feels. We’re both madly in love with the same girl and not only that she lives on the other side of the World to us so we’re never likey to ever meet her in the fur – sigh…..! Schnauzer snuggles – JD and Max.

  34. Oh Mayzie – I know I shouldn’t laugh but that picture of your Brudder Ranger “smiling” behind the glass just made me giggle! 😀

And Hsin-Yi wanted to say THANK YOU so much for your comment on my post about my grumpy neighbour dog because she often feels very torn and guilty about not using 100% purely positive training – like your humans, she tries very hard to but sometimes a bit of reprimand or correction is far more effective and doesn’t really damage my relationship with her either! It’s not like I’m walking around cowed and scared of her – despite what all the positive people say! In fact, Hsin-Yi feels that if you can’t introduce anything negative at all in you relationship with your dog – for fear of damaging the relationship – then you don’t have much of a relationship in the first place.

But of course, that is not the PC attitude at the moment in the world of dog-training and so Hsin-Yi always feels very guilty. It is almost like religions now – you have to be in one camp or another – whereas Hsin-Yi much rather just combines the methods in the best way to suit each dog. She knows that lots of people use correction in the wrong way and she doesn’t want to promote it – but sometimes she feels that just 100% positive isn’t always the best answer either, especially when you have a very big doggie like me that can do things that are a danger to myself or others – a lot of positive only training relies on ignoring the “bad stuff” and rewarding the good – but with a big, powerful doggies, sometimes it’s just too dangerous and you can’t afford to just “ignore the bad stuff”! 🙄

Anyway, sorry for going on but Hsin-Yi just wanted to say thank you to your human for helping her feel not so alone in her dilemma with dog training philosophies.
