Who am I?

Haha! Isn’t that the Most Silly question you ever heard? That’s easy! I’m me. I’m MAYZIE!

But I have learned something Most Interesting about humans. It seems oh-so-very important to them that they know who I am. Or, really, WHAT I am.

When mom and me are out and about, it always happens. Somebodys always stops us and asks…

What kind of dog is that?

Well, the problem is that I don’t remember my birth mother and father. So my gene-ology is Most Mysterious. And mom and dad and me and Brudder Ranger are all just fine with that. So lots of times, mom will just smile real sweetly and say to the very curious person…

Mayzie is one-of-a-kind!

Now, I think that is Most Clever. And very true. But humans are funny creatures and most of the times, this doesn’t seem to make ’em happy. So they start the “What is Mayzie” guessing game. Here’s some of the guesses we hear most oftenest:

A Boxer dog like my friend Mr. Chef. (This is what my Angel Donna Fostermommy had me listed as on that Petfinder webbit thingie.) The funniest thing is lots of times people think I’m a baby boxer, instead of a full-grown dog!

A Pit Bull like my friends Miss Daisy and Sookie and the Houston Pittie Pack and Miss M and Mr. B.

A French Bulldog like my friends Brutus and Betty. (But I think that’s mainly cuz of my glorious ears.)

We’ve also heard Old English Bulldog, and Basenji, and Australian Cattle Dog, and Great Dane. (Although, I thinks I might be too much of a shorty to be a Great Dane.)

We get asked this funny question so many times that mom is thinkin’ about having a dee-enn-ay test done on me so she can just tells people what that test said, rather than have them play the guessing game. But I dunno. I kinda like being a dog of mystery!

So anyway, after hearing from all these peoples we don’t know, we thought that it would be kinda fun to hear what other doggie friends and doggie friends people  think that I might be. And kittehs can play along, too!

Oh! Here’s a couple things abouts me that might help. I weigh 38 pounds and I’m only about 17 inches tall at the shoulder. And here’s some pictures of my Most Exotic self from diff’rent angles. I can’t waits to hear what you have to say!

Hope everydoggie (and kitteh) has a Most Happy Monday! Wiggles & Wags!

Well I’m thinkin’ that the old standby answer would be good.
“Mayzi is a Heinz 57!” Heinz makes the bestest of all CATsup and of course… Steak sauce.
My mom’s furend always answers, “Oh, Buddy is a LOVE dog.” BOL
One time mom told someone that I was a longhaired dachshund and the lady said, “No he isn’t.” That stopped mom in her tracks, let me tell you.
Mom didn’t even bother asking that lady what she THOUGHT I was then. hehehe Two leggers, can’t live with em, can’t live without em. I’m just sayin’.

Well, I would like to think that you are part mastiff given your lovely striped furs, but if that is true then I sure hope the momma was the mastiff if you know what I mean.

Do you know my buddy Norwood? Momma thinks he is one of the most handsomest doggies ever and he is one of a kind dog just like you are. I think that it is not important and those humans should not ask rude questions. I mean do strangers walk up to your mom and ask her about her family background? I think not.

Tell mom next time they ask what kind of doggie you are she should say, “a very good doggie!”

  3. Mayzie….aren’t humans just the silliest beings breathing…I agree you, you are Mayzie the most beautiful Brindle we know….when Mom and I first saw you we thought possibly a boxer and Great Dane mix…..but then mom said who cares she is beautiful, sweet, kind, loving etc. So we vote for no dee enn ay because what would it matter it will not change the fact that you are a Sweet dog. Mom says to tell folks when they ask…to say she is a Sweet Dog and probably the Sweetest of all the sweet dogs. We’re just sayin’

  4. Hmmmm Miss Mayzie, I always thought you had a bit of Pittie in you and I think Boxer is a good guess too! Whatever, you are, you sure are one fine lookin’ gal! 😉 People always think I’m a mixed Ridgeback because they say I am so light and thin….have they ever seen the breed standard? Sheesh! We are supposed to be thinner and muscualr and as far as the light color, yes, most RR’s you see are darker but we can be light too. They also think I am a Great Dane or Greyhound….funny huh!

  5. If I had to pick one, I would pick Boxer, too!

  6. Mayzie girl, after gazing at your beautiful pictures for some length of time, I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re part Frenchie (of course with those stunning ears) and part Pit Bull or Boxer and just possibly a splash of Great Dane.

But I wholeheartedly agree with your parent. You are one of a kind girlfriend!

    French kisses,

  7. You know, we think Miss M. is part boxer too and you both have the similar brindle and chins with jowls. I heard drinking water is a boxer thing too if you like to drink a lot. You are quite tiny, and it does look like you’re part pittie too. Sometimes we say “bully” just to cover everything. You are just a lady of intrigue.

  8. Mayzie we think you are one of a kind too! We love your colors cause they match our colors. Mom thinks you might have some boxer in you but you are definately not as big as us. Boxen weighs in at a whopping 80 lbs in the summer. Whatever you are it is cool and we like you!

  9. The peoples of the world can be very strange…

We’re going to say that you are a French Pit Boxer! Just because it sounds cool…

Did you know that Pippen is half Schnauzer and half Scottish Terrier? Do you know what mom tells people when they ask what he is? She says he’s a Schnottie! Everybody always laughs at that but also makes sure that he knows he’s a fine looking young lad.

  10. daisydog

You are a pibble boxer swirl!

  11. I would have said a Boston Terrier cross or perhaps a Boxer cross. Doesn’t really matter though, tell them you’re an a-mayzie-ng dog and that’s all there is to say. We think you’re adorable 🙂

  12. twinkietinydog

I realize you want a real answer but I can’t tell most breeds apart. What I can say to you is: We don’t know what anybody in our home is! We’re all mixed breeds and rescues… We’ve assigned us arbitrary breeds in case we get asks 🙂

  13. I think you are a most nice and beautiful Mayzie dog!! That’s what counts, right???

  14. Maybe part boxer and part boston terrier? That’s just a guess! Whatever you are, it’s beautiful!

  15. Mayzie,

I personally don’t care what breed you are and your momma has the right idea telling those silly humans that you are one of a kind. I think you are beautiful and your brindle coat is most attractive it doesn’t matter about your official origins, we love you no matter where you came from!!

    Wags and Woofs,
    Mack and Mia

  16. Your mom’s answer that you are a one-of-a-kind girlie is the perfect answer, Mayzie! We think you are just beautiful!

    Love ya lots,
    Maggie and Mitch

  17. Mom did a transport several months ago with a furry handsome fella with furs like yours (and Mango’s)

Woo are furry beaWOOtiful – that’s the best kind of khanine there is!

  18. It doesn’t matter what you are, you’re a beautiful girl. Maybe your Mum could just make something up and no one would know the difference…
    Love, Bella

  19. Hi, Mayzie!
    Hmm… maybe Boxer…. maybe Pittie…. I really don’t know!
I just know you are very special and beautiful!
    Kisses and hugs

  20. Shady

You had it right the first time, you are Mayzie. The rest does not matter. When my Mom meets people, she does not say, “Hi, I am a caucasian american female, Melissa”. She is just Melissa. Once you have your forever family and they name you and love you that’s that. All the rest of that stuff before is just to keep us organized till that happens, at least that’s what I think!

  21. Shady

PS–or you can say you are a BlogDog, like me!

  22. You are just Maysie, like your family says!
Sammy has the same problem as you….undetermined parentage….

  23. Hi there Maysie..
You have that problem too? Humans are strange. French Pitboxie is what I think. Enough about that, you have a lovely dipped paw. It’s very nice to meet you and swinging by my bloggie. I think we have lots in common.. seeing your flashie beast techniques. I use the look away, I heard something move quite a bit.
